Concreto Efêmero

(2017) was an installation created for the Brazilian booth at the Anuga Food Fair, in Cologne, Germany, for ApexBrasil –the Brazilian Agency for the Promotion of Exports and Investments. The installation was made up of small chocolate cubes on three surfaces of a much larger cube inspired by the concrete art works by the Austro-Brazilian sculptor Franz Weissmann. Concrete art was an important movement in Brazilian art and design in the early 20th century. It was associated with the country’s industrialisation and innovation. The Brazilian booth focused on the innovative aspects of the country, which were illustrated by this gastroperformance. Over the four days of the fair, a kitchen specially set up for the occasion processed a total of 500kg of chocolate and served 2,000 unit cubes per day.
